Local Services

Tarporley is a key Rural Service Centre providing a wide range of services to those in and around the village.

Local Services

Tarporley is a rural service centre for the surrounding villages and countryside. The Business
Survey in 2013 showed that over 129 businesses are located here. The variety of businesses
responding to the questionnaire included retail (20%) and professional (26%). There is a
diverse range of independent retail shops, health and beauty facilities, pubs and restaurants,
professional, financial and domestic services, education and healthcare providing
predominantly skilled and semi-skilled employment for the local population.

Plans for this section of the Tarporley Website

We plan to add more service categories to this website over the coming months; services that will be of interest to residents, businesses and visitors to Tarporley.

This book was left leaning against a wall outside of a house on Brook Road.

Is this another one of those “Burgle this house or steal this car later” signs or is there a more innocent explanation?

Tarporley Christmas Lights Switch On Event
Friday 1st December 6 pm to 7 pm.
Around the old chestnut tree, beside the Chestnut Pavilion, opposite the Co-op.

Father Christmas will be taking time away from his busy duties, to make an appearance and speak to the children at his grotto. Tarporley Silver Band will be playing. The Primary School Choir and Decibellas Women's Choir will be leading the Carol singing and Tarporley Rotary will be selling mulled wine, hot chestnuts, burgers etc. The lights will be switched on at around 6:45 pm.

This year is a very special event, being 100 years since the last Christmas of World War One - although, of course, people did not know that at the time. Come and learn a little more about how Christmas was affected in World War 1. The Tarporley Remembers 2018 campaign was launched this week, as you may have noticed in Tarporley News. See www.facebook.com/tarporleyremembers/ for more details and how to get involved.

Fund raising at the event will be in aid of Tarporley War Memorial Hospital and Tarporley Rotary Club local charities.

Many of you will know this is a very popular event in Tarporley’s calendar. So to ensure we can all enjoy ourselves without any mishaps, parents are asked to please supervise your children at all times and not to let your children climb onto, or run around on, the mound under the chestnut tree.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making this event happen:

Santa - for taking the time to visit us.
Tarporley Rotary Club for running the stalls
Tarporley 41 Club for putting up the Christmas trees this morning and helping Santa at the event.
Tarporley Primary School Choir
Decibellas Women’s Choir
Tarporley Silver Band
James Blackford for the staging.
Cheshire Lamonts for the electrical supply for the lights and for funding the Carol sheets - and for the mince pies and prosecco (donations in aid of TWMH and The Railway Children)
Emma and Victoria, of the Tarporley Remembers 2018 campaign, for designing the Carol Sheet.
Tarporley Parish Council for organising the event and providing the marshals
Any other volunteer helpers I’ve missed - please let us know.
