Best Kept Village Competition 2019

The Best Kept Village competition's aim is to develop and highlight a sense of pride amongst local people throughout Cheshire.

The official BKV website says... "The Competition exemplifies the community spirit in all the villages. It demonstrates and emphasises just how much voluntary work is undertaken to keep Cheshire a beautiful and attractive County. The competition encourages villages to improve every aspect of village life which is under threat in so many different ways."

Tarporley Parish Council discussed whether to enter this year's competition at their meeting last week. It was noted that the BKV Competition is focused on community spirit in villages and, as such, needs to be a community led project that involves the whole community.

It was agreed that the Parish Council would seek volunteers both to lead on the Best Kept Village Competition and to work on it. Depending on the response, the Parish Council will decide whether to enter the competition in their 11th February meeting.

This project to compete in the Best Kept Village Competition requires a lot of sustained effort throughout the village through to September. Tarporley has won or come runner up in this competition many times. We can do it but it does take concerted effort. You can get more (yet to be updated for 2019) information on the BKV website here....

If you would like to volunteer to lead and/or work on the project for Tarporley's entry to this year's BKV Competition then please contact the Parish Clerk at and, if you like, comment below.
