Background
The Arthur Meredith Charitable Trust was established in the 1980s at the bequest of local resident Arthur Meredith.
The Charity originally owned and managed a hall and was known as the Arthur Meredith Memorial Hall Charity; the hall being at the old “British School” on Eaton Road. The management of the hall proved to be unworkable with the resources available, so it was sold. The income raised at the time from the sale was used to provide a grant to extend Tarporley Community Centre and the remainder invested in charity specific funds.
The Trust was renamed the Arthur Meredith Memorial Charity and continues to this day to provide grants to local organisations that serve the young and old of Tarporley Parish.

Trustees
There are 6 trustees, 4 nominated by the Parish Council and 2 nominated by the trustees as being worthy local parishioners. The trust administrator was established as the Clerk of the Parish Council.
Currently the Trust meets once a year nominally in November and December to review applications from local organisations and award grants.
Although the Trust is a separate body from Tarporley Parish Council, the Council annually notes the minutes of the Trust’s meetings and the grants awarded by the Trust.
